Miniload
Design No :
MFS-ORD-20250817-NBS-0001-29
A miniload automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) uses stacker cranes or shuttles to automatically store and retrieve small items, totes, or cartons in high-density racking with narrow aisles. It supports efficient handling of lightweight loads with high precision, space optimization, and reduced manual labor at increased throughput. Crane speed and aisle layout determine capacity; this setup can define thousands of storage locations. Integrates with upstream conveyors, picking stations, and WMS/WCS for automated inventory control and order buffering. Typical process areas: inbound (receiving and putaway), storage (high-density buffering), order picking (goods-to-person fulfillment), outbound (consolidation and shipping waves), and returns processing.
Sectors: e-commerce, retail distribution, pharmaceuticals, electronics, automotive spare parts, manufacturing. Goods: small parts, totes, trays, cartons, bins, lightweight items. Use cases: high-density storage and buffering, goods-to-person order fulfillment, inventory management, automated putaway and retrieval, returns processing. Strengths: space optimization with high vertical utilization, reduced labor costs, high throughput and accuracy, scalable modular design, low error rates.
